1997 Kennedy Half Dollar

The mintages for the 1996 Kennedy Half Dollar coins produced for circulation began to trend lower starting this year. The Philadelphia and Denver Mints produced just just above and just below the 20 million mark. The proof coin mintage rebounded for the clad composition coin, while the 90% silver proof version sank. The 1997-S Silver Proof Kennedy Half Dollar carries a premium above the prior year and can be a challenge to locate in perfect grade.
