1991 Kennedy Half Dollar

The mintage for the 1991 Kennedy Half Dollar proof coin dipped below 3 million. This was the first proof mintage below 3 million since 1974. This new lower level of proof coin production would continue for the coming years. Correspondingly, many of these proof coins are much expensive than earlier year’s coins. Mintages for circulation strike coins would continue to be low, but would fall much further in the next decade.
