1981 Kennedy Half Dollar

The 1981 Kennedy Half had two different varieties for the proof version of the coin, created by two different types of mint mark. Type 1 carries a rounded “S” mint mark, which is similar in appearance to the Type 2 mint mark of 1979. The 1981-S Type 2 has a flat mint mark. The Type 2 is less frequently found and usually drives a premium above Type 1 examples.
