1968 Kennedy Half Dollar

The 1968 Kennedy Half had a composition of 40% silver, continuing the silver clad composition for the half dollar denomination. Mint marks were used once again, with all coins minted at the Denver Mint and carrying the “D” mint mark. Also, this year regular proof coins returned. The coins were minted at the San Francisco Mint and carried the “S” mint mark. The previous proof coin issued in 1964 had been minted at the Philadelphia Mint.
