1964 Kennedy Half Dollar

The 1964 Kennedy Half Dollar was the first year of issue for the series. This was also the first and only year that circulation issue coins were minted in 90% silver composition. Proof coins were minted at the Philadelphia Mint and included within government issued sets. A notable variety exists known as the 1964 Proof Kennedy Half Dollar Accented Hair Variety.
